Coming Back To Love

The event that happened in my adopted hometown of Boulder, Colorado this week was unimaginable.  It caused ripples of shock, pain, anguish, heartache, grief, and anger to pulse through the community sending waves of fear deep into the earth and far across the nation. Many of us quickly knew we wanted to help. Many were unsure how.  Still others felt that we could do nothing to make a difference.  Some felt like giving up and wished to leave the country.

My first reaction was confusion and the hope no one was hurt by the shooter.  When it became clear that ten people had died in my neighborhood grocery store, I realized that in a moment this place had been ripped apart by an event so horrific that it might never be whole again.

Today I recognize and feel the grief and anger of countless individuals.  And I feel love.  I hold space for those of you affected to deeply feel your emotions, let them flow through, release the fear in your hearts, your minds, and your bodies and come back to love. I can hear some of you thinking I’m crazy. But only when we open our hearts to love can we truly know what we want to do next.  How to help heal ourselves and others from this tragedy with our unique essence. How we want to move forward in this world with a vision of love and not fear.

It has been said that our thoughts, emotions, and actions are born out of love or fear.  If fear cannot exist where there is love, then love is all we really are.  How do we move collectively back to love? How do we help ourselves and others know that we are loved and are OK the way we are?  That nothing is actually wrong with us?

How do we slow down our lives and our expectations so that we can take care of and nurture ourselves and others?  The divine masculine and feminine within each of us has been out of balance for millennia. If we want to be the change, let’s start with ourselves and lead by example. Nurture yourself and take time to just be as you are.  Have admiration for your doing self and reverence for your being self. When these are in balance, we inherently know that we are loved and taken care of. And when we go out in the world like this, others will start to be magnetically drawn into balance as well.  I see us healing each other, our communities, and our world…and coming back to love.

Let’s begin now.
